Version 2026.10 · Last updated 19 October 2026. Operator: Harshil Garg, Patiala, Punjab, India · Grievance Officer: Harshil Garg · Support and grievance email: sumzyaisummary@gmail.com
1. Terms & Conditions
Service. Sumzy is a browser-native utility. Text extraction and summarization run inside your own browser tab; the Operator runs no servers that receive your documents.
Eligibility. You must be at least 13 to use Sumzy, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a Premium Pass.
Acceptable use. Use Sumzy lawfully. Do not reverse engineer it (except where the law or an open-source licence allows), scrape it, inject code through the browser console, bypass or tamper with licence checks, or share a licence key.
Premium. Each licence key allows one (1) active device registration at a time. Payments, invoicing and sales tax are handled by Dodo Payments as Merchant of Record. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through the Dodo Payments customer portal. Taxes are calculated at checkout.
Third-party dependencies and force majeure. Sumzy relies on your browser's APIs (WebAssembly and ONNX runtime) and on third-party infrastructure: Cloudflare Pages, cdnjs, jsDelivr, Hugging Face (for the one-time model download) and Dodo Payments. The Operator is not liable for interruptions, model download failures or incompatibilities caused by third-party outages, ISP blocks, browser updates or force majeure events beyond its reasonable control.
Modification, termination and sunset. The Operator may modify, suspend or permanently discontinue Sumzy, or terminate any licence for breach, at any time without liability. If Sumzy is permanently discontinued without cause during a paid billing cycle, then, subject to rights that cannot be excluded by law, your sole remedy (if any, at the sole discretion of the Operator or the Merchant of Record) is no further renewals or a pro-rata refund of unused prepaid fees.
Indemnification. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Operator from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses and legal fees arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of Sumzy, or your processing of documents that violate third-party intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality or regulatory rights.
Export controls and sanctions. You represent that you are not located in a sanctioned country and are not on any restricted-party list maintained by India, the United States (OFAC), the United Nations or the European Union.
Changes. We may update the service or these terms; the version number above changes when we do. There is no uptime guarantee.
Severability. If a court finds any clause invalid, the remaining clauses stay in force.
2. Privacy Policy
Your documents. Text and files you paste or open are processed only in your browser's memory. They are not uploaded to, stored on, or processed by servers we control.
Non-controller status for documents. Because no document text or file data leaves your browser's memory, the Operator does not receive or determine the use of it, and acts neither as a Data Fiduciary (India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) nor as a Data Controller or Processor (GDPR) with respect to the content of your documents. This applies to document content only; the data below is handled by the Operator.
Data that does move.
- Licence checks: for Premium, your browser sends your licence key and a random device ID (generated in your browser) directly to Dodo Payments to activate and validate your licence. Activation records may be used to prevent fraud and to prove delivery in a payment dispute.
- Purchases: Dodo Payments collects your email, name, card details, billing address, ZIP/postcode and country to take payment and calculate tax, under its own privacy policy. As merchant we can see your email, country and subscription status in Dodo's dashboard, used only for support and licence management.
- Network requests: loading this site and its files (our host Cloudflare Pages, cdnjs, jsDelivr, and Hugging Face for the one-time model download) exposes your IP address and standard request data to those providers, who may keep access logs.
Why and legal basis. To deliver the service and verify your licence (contract), and to keep it secure (legitimate interests).
Sharing and transfers. We do not sell or share personal data for advertising. Dodo Payments and the providers above may process data outside your country.
Your rights. Depending on where you live (including under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) you may ask to access, correct or delete your data, withdraw consent, or complain to your regulator. Email sumzyaisummary@gmail.com; we aim to reply within 30 days. Most billing data is held by Dodo Payments, so some requests go to them.
Indian Grievance Officer timeline. Our Grievance Officer (Harshil Garg, sumzyaisummary@gmail.com) will acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days, and no later than 30 days, in line with India's Information Technology Rules and Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules.
Proprietary rights. Sumzy's source code, design and licensing logic are proprietary and protected by copyright, and are delivered to your browser only so the service can run. The Operator's private banking and remittance arrangements and other non-public business information are confidential. This does not limit information we are legally required to disclose or your data rights.
Children. Sumzy is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
3. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Instant delivery. Premium access starts as soon as your licence is activated, so all sales are final, except where the law gives you a right to a refund or remedy that we cannot exclude.
EU/UK consumers. By requesting immediate access and activating your licence, you ask for the digital service to start now and acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once it has started. Your other statutory rights are not affected.
Cancellation. Manage or cancel your subscription through the Dodo Payments customer portal. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period. Payment disputes are also subject to Dodo Payments' own terms.
Chargeback fraud. Starting an unauthorized or illegitimate chargeback after activating a licence key is a material breach of these terms. It entitles the Operator to revoke the licence key immediately, to treat the associated activation instance (sumzy.instance) and device ID (sumzy.hardware_id) as barred, and, together with Dodo Payments, to submit licence activation logs as proof of digital delivery to contest the dispute.
4. Disclaimer
As is. Sumzy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows.
AI can be wrong. Summaries come from a probabilistic AI model that can omit, distort or invent information. Check every summary against the original. The model is English-focused and may perform poorly on other languages. You bear the risk of relying on any output.
AI transparency notice. All summaries are machine-generated outputs produced by a local automated AI model (t5-small) and must be independently verified by a human.
No professional advice. Output is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.
High-risk and prohibited use. Do not use Sumzy in high-risk or life-critical settings (medical diagnosis, clinical decisions, formal legal or court filings, financial trading, aviation, nuclear, or emergency services), or to process unlawful content or classified state secrets. Do not load regulated data (for example health records) unless your own obligations allow it.
Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for academic penalties, loss of employment, business or financial loss, or other damage from relying on output. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your mandatory consumer rights.
Liability cap fallback. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, if any exclusion of liability in these terms is held unenforceable by a court or arbitrator of competent jurisdiction, the Operator's total cumulative liability for all claims arising out of or related to Sumzy shall not exceed the total subscription fees actually paid by you for Sumzy in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or ₹1,000 INR ($12 USD), whichever is lesser.
Your device. Running AI locally is resource-heavy. You are responsible for your device's capability; the Operator is not liable for browser crashes, freezes or battery drain.
5. Cookie & Local Storage Notice
Sumzy sets no cookies, and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking pixels. It uses your browser's local storage only for features you asked for:
sumzy.theme: your pink or green theme.sumzy.license,sumzy.instance,sumzy.hardware_id: your licence key, its activation ID and a random device ID, so Premium keeps working.
The browser also caches the AI model files. Third-party hosts that serve our files (such as Cloudflare for Cloudflare Pages and cdnjs) may set their own technical cookies or logs. Clearing site data removes your saved licence; reactivating may need your device slot freed through Dodo Payments or support.
6. Intellectual Property & Jurisdiction
Open source. Sumzy uses pdf.js (Apache 2.0), mammoth.js (BSD-2-Clause), Transformers.js (Apache 2.0), ONNX Runtime Web (MIT) and the t5-small model weights (Apache 2.0), under their licences. Their copyright notices stay with them.
Your content. You keep your rights in documents you load and warrant that you own or hold the copyright permissions needed to process them. Sumzy's own code, design and name belong to the Operator.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India.
30-day informal dispute resolution. Before starting arbitration or litigation, the aggrieved party must send a written Notice of Dispute to sumzyaisummary@gmail.com and allow 30 days for good-faith informal resolution.
Binding individual arbitration. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any dispute not resolved informally within 30 days shall be finally resolved by binding individual arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, before a sole arbitrator seated in Patiala, Punjab, India, conducted in English (by remote or written proceedings where possible). Subject to arbitration, the competent courts in Patiala, Punjab, India have exclusive jurisdiction. To the extent the law allows, claims must be brought individually, and class and representative actions are waived. This does not limit consumer rights or forums that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived.
Limitation period. To the maximum extent permitted by law, any claim arising out of or related to Sumzy must be started within one (1) year after the cause of action accrues, or it is permanently barred.
